Complaints and disputes
Most disagreements with a gambling operator are not about fraud. They are about a bonus that was voided for a stake above the cap, a withdrawal held for documents nobody asked for clearly, or an account frozen while a compliance check runs. Each of those has a defined path, and the path only works if it is walked in order.
Step one: the internal complaint, in writing
Live chat is for questions. A complaint belongs in email, because email produces a timestamped record that survives the chat window closing. State the account identifier, the date and time of the event, the amount involved and — this is the part people skip — what outcome is being requested. Please release the withdrawal of 240 euros requested on 3 March is a complaint. This is unacceptable is a mood.
Attach the evidence in the first message rather than waiting to be asked: screenshots of the cashier entry, the bonus terms as they appeared when the offer was accepted, the transaction reference from the bank or wallet, and any chat transcript already collected. Operators generally acknowledge within a working day and answer substantively within a week or two; note the date, because the next step depends on it.
Step two: the disputes that recur
| Dispute | Usual cause | What resolves it |
|---|---|---|
| Withdrawal held | Verification incomplete or documents rejected | Re-upload in the requested format; colour, uncropped, all corners visible |
| Bonus and winnings voided | A round staked above the 5 euro cap while the bonus was live | Rarely reversible — the cap is in the terms; check them before opting in |
| Wagering never completes | Play at tables or live games, which contribute 10 percent | Recalculate using the contribution table before claiming |
| Payment not credited | Network delay or a mismatched sender account | Transaction reference plus a bank statement extract |
| Account closed by the operator | Duplicate account, or a mismatch between name and payment method | Documentary proof of identity and ownership of the payment route |
Two of those five are avoidable entirely by reading before clicking. The stake cap and the contribution percentages are the most expensive lines in any bonus document; both are explained under bonus terms and wagering requirements.
Step three: escalation, and its real limits
If the internal route produces nothing within a few weeks, the next stage is the dispute resolution body attached to the operator's licence. Every reputable European licensing regime designates one, and its details belong in the operator's terms of use. Filing there costs the player nothing, follows a written procedure, and produces a decision the operator has agreed in advance to accept as a condition of holding the licence.
Here the German dimension matters, and it is worth being blunt about it. Germany's joint gambling authority supervises the operators on its whitelist. Richroyal is not on that list, so the German authority has no supervisory relationship with it and no complaint channel for its customers. The escalation ladder therefore ends in the licensing jurisdiction, not in Halle an der Saale. That is a genuine reduction in remedies compared with a German-permitted operator, and it belongs in the decision before the first deposit rather than after the first dispute.
What strengthens a case, and what weakens it
- Strengthens: a clean chronology with dates, the terms as they read at the time of the offer, unedited screenshots, and one clearly stated request.
- Strengthens: patience with the internal stage. Dispute bodies routinely refuse cases that skipped it.
- Weakens: a chargeback filed with the card issuer while the complaint is still open — operators treat it as a hostile act and it usually ends the account.
- Weakens: a second account, however innocently opened. It voids bonuses and gives the operator a clean reason to close the case.
- Weakens: abuse in the chat log. It changes nothing about the facts and it changes everything about how the file reads to a third party.
Prevention, which is cheaper than escalation
Complete identity verification on the day the account is opened, not on the day a withdrawal is requested — this single habit removes the most common dispute entirely. Deposit with a payment route registered in your own name. Save the bonus terms as a file at the moment of opting in, because promotional pages are rewritten without notice. Set the account limits described under self-exclusion and limits before the first payment. And read the withdrawal mechanics under withdrawals, where the review window and the per-route timings are set out, so that a normal delay is not mistaken for a refusal.
If a dispute is less about money than about the amount of time and money that has already gone in, the relevant page is not this one. It is responsible gambling, where the free and independent support available in Germany is listed.
