Bet Types at Richroyal and What Each One Costs
Every bet format on a sportsbook is the same underlying transaction wrapped differently, and the wrapper decides how much margin the bettor pays. That is the honest lens for comparing a single with an accumulator or a system, and it is more useful than any discussion of strategy. This page sets out the formats available on the Richroyal platform, states what each costs in structural terms, and notes where a German betting permit would restrict them.
Singles: one selection, one margin
A single stakes an amount on one outcome at one price. It is the cheapest format in margin terms because the bettor pays the bookmaker charge exactly once. It is also the format that produces the smallest headline returns, which is precisely why it is the least promoted. A bettor who understands nothing else about pricing benefits from knowing this one fact: the more selections a slip contains, the more times the same charge is applied.
Accumulators: the multiplication of margin
| Legs | What multiplies | Practical effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | one price, one margin | the reference case |
| 2 | two prices, two margins | return grows, so does the charge |
| 4 | four prices, four margins | probability of winning falls sharply |
| 8 | eight prices, eight margins | a lottery ticket with a bookmaker fee |
The large potential return on a long accumulator is genuine, and so is the compounded charge that makes it improbable. Nothing is being concealed; the format simply exploits the fact that a big number is more persuasive than a small probability. That is also why accumulator promotions and boosts exist in the first place.
Systems: paying for partial insurance
A system takes several selections and splits them into every combination of a chosen size, so a slip of four selections in groups of three produces four separate bets. One losing leg no longer destroys everything, which is the whole point. The cost is a proportionally larger total stake, since each combination carries its own share of the margin. A system is therefore neither clever nor foolish in itself; it is a purchase of variance reduction at a stated price, and whether that price is worth paying depends on how much the bettor dislikes losing an entire stake to a single result.
Cash out and what it charges
Cash out settles an open position early at a figure the operator calculates from current prices, less its own margin. It is genuinely useful when circumstances change, and it is never a neutral valuation. Repeatedly cashing out and re-entering the same position is a way of paying the charge several times over on one opinion. Treating the button as a convenience with a fee attached, rather than as a tool for managing risk, produces better decisions.
What a German permit restricts
The Glücksspielstaatsvertrag of 2021 does not forbid singles, accumulators or systems, but it reshapes the environment around them. In-play betting on a whitelisted platform is limited to the final outcome and the next goal, which removes the short-horizon markets that most in-play accumulators are built from. Competitions involving minors are excluded, and amateur sport is restricted. Every stake carries 5,3 percent tax under the Rennwett- und Lotteriegesetz, deducted or priced in by the bookmaker. Before a customer is accepted, OASIS, the nationwide exclusion register administered by the Regierungspräsidium Darmstadt, is queried, and a self-block there covers casinos, arcades and bookmakers together for at least three months. The Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder in Halle an der Saale publishes the whitelist of operators bound by all of it. Richroyal is licensed in another EU member state and is not on that list, so its market range is wider, its prices carry no German stake tax, and none of the statutory protections stand behind the account. The betting overview covers the comparison in full, and the voluntary limit tools are described on the self-exclusion page.
A short decision rule
Prefer the format with the fewest selections that still expresses the opinion. Treat accumulator promotions as compensation for a structural disadvantage rather than as free value. Use cash out sparingly and knowingly. Remember that sports bets normally contribute nothing towards a casino turnover requirement on the same balance, as explained on the wagering page. And keep a record long enough for the margin to become visible, because over a small number of bets it never is. Betting is restricted to adults aged 18 and over; the BZgA campaign Spielen mit Verantwortung and its Check dein Spiel self-test are the neutral reference.
